Endeca Extensions There was an error when trying to access the data source
Issue 1- Datasource Error
There was an error when trying to access the data source. Please confirm with your system administrator that the data source is available.
Below error is observed on Endeca Pages when a clone of EBS Instance is completed.

Below are the few causes for the issue:
1) The source EBS may not have Endeca application configured.
2) Not executed Concurrent program “Populate Endeca Metadata for iProcurement” after any metadata changes performed on Endeca side <-- This is specific to iProcurment page
3) Endeca data source ebsdb is not listing target managed servers
Launch Console of Endeca Server -> Datasources -> click on datasource ebsdb -> Monitoring -> Testing. This screen should list the Studio Managed server.
Studio log file reported below errors: (/u01/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/endeca_domain/servers/StudioManagedServer/logs/StudioManagedServer.log)

Fix:
The password of EBS User ENDECADM in console is incorrect. Update the correct password for user ENDECADM in console to correct value and save it.
Console -> Lock & Edit in change center -> Datasource -> click on ebsdb -> configuration -> Connection Pool.
Update the password to correct value and click on Save.
Activate Changes on control center
Once the changes are activated we should be able to see the Managed Server.

Site Name profile in 12.2
Site Name profile in 12.2
We generally define “Site Name” profile at site level to identify forms session distinctly when we have multiple EBS Sessions. In prior releases upto 12.1.3 this can be directly modified and the change remains permanent until you make changes manually.
From 12.2, Oracle changed the way how it is handled. The value of Site Name defaults to parameter value s_sitename defined in context file. So, whenever we execute autoconfig it overwrites “Site Name” with s_sitename parameter
The script that updates the value when autoconfig is ran: $INST_TOP/admin/install/txkappsprf.sql
In order to customize the change according to our requirement we can perform steps as below:
1) Identify the template file that needs to be customized.
$AD_TOP/bin/adtmplreport.sh contextfile=$CONTEXT_FILE target=$INST_TOP/admin/install/txkappsprf.sql
This script provides log file which gives template file details:
TEMPLATE FILE : /u01/tech_st/fs1/EBSapps/appl/fnd/12.0.0/admin/template/txkappsprf.sql
TARGET FILE : /u01/tech_st/fs1/inst/apps/endecebs_endecaapps/admin/install/txkappsprf.sql
2) Navigate to TEMPLATE File location $FNS_TOP/template and create directory “custom”
$ mkdir custom
3) Switch to “custom” directory and copy the template file to this location.
4) Edit the content of this newly copied file txkappsprf.sql under $FND_TOP/admin/template/custom as below
DEFINE SITE_NAME = "%s_sitename%"
To
DEFINE SITE_NAME = "<Your customized message>"
After these changes are made whenever you run autoconfig, the Site Name will be updated based on your custom template file. This can be added to your post clone steps based on your requirements.

Issue 1:
APP-FND-02704: Unable to alter user APPS_MRC to change password.
As APPS_MRC is no longer in use from 11.5.10.2 We can delete this entry
Solution
*********
You need to do the following steps:
1.) Stop all application services.
2.) Start only database and database listener.
3.) Take backup of FND_USER and FND_ORACLE_USERID table first.
4.) Connect to SQLPLUS as APPS user and delete the row from FND_ORACLE_USERID table for "APPS_MRC".
SQL> delete from FND_ORACLE_USERID where ORACLE_USERNAME='APPS_MRC';
SQL> commit;
5.) Change the APPS password using FNDCPASS.
6.) Check the FNDCPASS logfile for any error. If the password has changed successfully then run
autconfig in application tier. Otherwise do not run autconfig.
7.) Start the application and let me know the outcome.
Issue 2:APP-FND-02704: Unable to alter user APPS to change password.
It throwed error stating apps password couldn;t be changed but it was able to make change to applsys password.
1) This failed because the default profile assigned to APPS schema is EXEMPT_POLICY(custom profile which is preventing the passowrd to be chnaged) as below
SQL> select profile from dba_users where username='APPS';
PROFILE
------------------------------
EXEMPT_POLICY
2) Change the profile to DEFAULT
SQL> alter user apps profile default;
then now reset password again using FNDCPASS.. It works
